Doll Making Instructions

Are you excited about reborning or creating your own dolls but don’t know where to start? You are not alone. At AngelSupply.com we often get requests for assistance and training. The fact that reborning is so popular and yet the information available is so slim is quite understandable really. The market has not yet caught up to the demand so you might need to wait a few years for wider selection in training.

As another example of this, consider craft training in origami. Yes, I do know they are unrelated but the lesson is the same. Bear with me. The first evidence of the art of origami dates back to the second century (AD) of China, and is now practiced worldwide by popular support students and teachers alike. One of the really remarkable thing about this ancient art form is that it survived for over 1500 years without any instruction writing. During this period, the techniques of origami and strictly secrets that were passed from hand to hand among the masters.

It was not until 1797 that the first instructions written were published for the masses. Now you can understand why the tutorials for reborning dolls has taken so long. Before this origami folding instructions from initial publication is transmitted from generation to generation by family members, neighbors and passengers to familiarize themselves with art. This is one of the reason why doll makers meet or have membership to a doll maker guild.

It wasn`t until 1954 that the first complete system of origami diagrams and notation were written by Japanese origami master Akira Yoshizawa. Today the popularity of the art of origami has infected young and old alike.

Don’t worry though. You won’t have to wait 1500 years to get started with doll making instructions. If you look to the right you’ll find a favorite doll making tutorial – more are shown above. Although people have been making dolls for many years the techniques have not hit mainstream quite yet.
